DOTr completes 121 airport development projects

CLARK FREEPORT -- Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said that 121 projects connected to airport development in the entire country were already completed.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) chief said these were realized by the Duterte administration under its Build Build Build infrastructure program since 2016.

"Since the advent of the Duterte administration in 2016, your Department of Transportation has been relentlessly working overtime to pursue its mandate in its aviation and airports sector," Tugade said.

The agency stated its aim of advance air connectivity and mobility in the country and other countries.

Since July 2016, the DOTr and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) have collaborated non-stop in building new gateways and rehabilitating the existing ones to make them more modern and attuned with the times, under the auspices of the massive "Build, Build, Build" infrastructure program.

The DOTr, in partnership with Caap, headed by Director General Jim Sydiongco, now have 114 ongoing aviation projects.

The two agencies are set to start 75 more projects related to airport construction all over the country.

"In a time when a pandemic hampered our path to economic progress, we at the DOTr remain more determined and committed than ever to 'Work, Work, Work' for the Filipino people," the agency stated.
