DPWH completes P43M bridge in Lubao town

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO The traffic gridlock along the Lubao Diversion Road will soon be eased as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the rehabilitation and widening of Marimla Bridge in said town.

DPWH Central Luzon Director Roseller A. Tolentino said the 30-lineal-meter Marimla bridge has been strengthened and expanded with additional two more lanes to ensure safety and ease of travel of the commuting public.

The newly-improved thoroughfare is an alternative route to the busy Jose Abad Santos Avenue.

“While road widening initiatives previously undertaken along Lubao Diversion Road were seen effective in accommodating the increasing volume of vehicles traversing the road, the previously two-lane Marimla Bridge had become a traffic chokepoint causing inconvenience to motorists,” said Tolentino.

The project was funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022.

The DPWH Pampanga Second District Engineering Office (DEO) implemented the bridge rehabilitation project in the amount of P43.42-million.

With its completion, DPWH said motorists and commuters can expect a smoother and faster flow of traffic along the Lubao Diversion Road.
