SAN SIMON - The local government here yesterday joined the nation in the 125th commemoration of Independence Day.
Mayor Abundio “Jun” Punsalan Jr. here stressed that freedom fought for and won by our heroes must be inclusive to all Filipinos.
“Alam po natin na ang ipinaglabang kalayaan ng ating mga bayani at hindi madali kaya nararapat lamang na tayong lahat ay maramdaman ang kalayaan na ito,” said Punsalan.
He said the community must be free from social problems such as discrimination, injustice and corruption.
“Sa nagdaang 125 taon, matuturing na panalo ng ating mga bayani kung ang bansa ay malaya sa diskriminasyon, korapsyon, at kawalang-hustisya,” Punsalan said.
He urged fellow local officials and government employees to emulate the sacrifices of Filipino heroes for the betterment of the nation.
“Mas mababaw na sakripisyo ang hinihingi ng panahon ngayon. Isantabi natin ang personal interes at magkaisa para makapagbigay ng serbisyong totoo at may puso para sa bawat Simonian,” Punsalan said.
