Ex-CSF councilor recovers from sepsis not Covid

PRAYERS pour in for former Councilor Angie Hizon of the City of San Fernando after she posted a video of herself lying on hospital bed while catching her breath on midnight Wednesday, April 8.

According to Hizon, she has been in the hospital since Sunday, April 4, but has been sick for about a week prior.

After four days in the hospital, the former city legislator said in video that her fever has not recurred, and was only awaiting some tests.

Hizon did not provide further information about her sickness on the video, but expressed gratitude to everyone who prayed and was praying for her speedy recovery.

However, on a private message sent via Messenger to SunStar Pampanga, Hizon clarified that she was then battling sepsis, contrary to some belief that she contracted the dreaded coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“Covid-19 was already ruled out on April 8. It is sepsis that I am battling now,” she said.

Sepsis is a disease caused by the body’s response to an infection. Some of its symptoms are similar to that Covid-19, such as fever and chills and difficulty in breathing.

On Friday dawn, Hizon posted another video on Facebook, announcing her successful recovery from sepsis.

She added that she was scheduled to be discharged from the hospital the following day after some final tests and procedures.

“For all your prayers and love, we pulled it through. I am now sepsis free and no Covid-19,” she said in the video.
