Garbo to workers: Observe code of ethics in workplace

MABALACAT CITY Mayor Crisostomo Garbo reminded city hall employees to abide by the rules governing the conduct of workers in and out of the workplace.

Garbo discussed honoring financial loans, avoiding illicit relationships, and drug abuse among employees of the city government.

"It has come to my attention that certain employees have been missing out on their obligation to pay their dues to a home appliance store. Please do not do that. Please live only within your means. Mag-ipon para handa tayo para sa year 2023," he said.

Garbo also reminded the city hall workers to remain faithful to their partners.

He also called on department heads to shepherd their respective staff to be conscious of their commitments and obligations.

Under the Republic Act 6713 or "The Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees," government employees must conduct with proper decorum, enumerating prohibited acts and transactions, and provides penalties for violations.

Garbo also warned employees that failure to appear on their scheduled drug test could lead to termination.

A born-again Christian, Garbo reminded workers to find time to go to church at least once a week no matter what religion or denomination the employees belong to.

The mayor said the city government should be driven by moral code and ethics as a reflection of the city's standard in serving the people.
