BACOLOR The children of Pampanga Third District Representative Aurelio "Dong" Gonzales Jr. donated a half hectare property in Barangay Malino in the City of San Fernando for the establishment of a new Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) campus.

The donation and memorandum of agreement for the said facility was finalized on Friday at the DHVSU main campus.

Gonzales along with his children, Third District Board Member Mica Gonzales, City of San Fernando councilor Aurelio "Brenz" Gonzales and Aurelio Gonzales III led the signing for the new campus with City of San Fernando mayor Vilma Caluag and DHVSU president Enrique Baking.

The older Gonzales said the new campus will be a great relief for students of the city coming from the north. Gonzales had pledged to fund the building requirements and other facilities of the campus through congressional appropriation.

Gonzales even pledged to have buildings set up by August 2023.

"This will greatly facilitate the need for accessible education for those in the border barangays of San Fernando," Gonzales said.

DHVSU president Enrique Baking clarified that the new campus will not compete with the current programs offered by the City College of San Fernando.

Baking said the new DHVSU campus will complement existing programs and will be responsive to the needs of the city.

Caluag expressed support to the program and hailed the establishment of a DHVSU facility in the city.

"We are happy that we now have a city college and DHVSU campus in the city," Caluag said, lauding the Gonzales family for their contribution to local education initiatives.

Board Member Gonzales said the new facility will open new opportunities for Northern towns of San Fernando and even the perimeter barangays of Mexico and Angeles City.

City councilor Gonzales said that he will support the programs of the campus through the city council.
