ANGELES CITY -- Converge ICT Solutions has committed to fully support the digital education program of the City Government that will benefit 90,000 students.

Converge ICT Solutions President and Chief Executive Officer Dennis Anthony Uy personally made the commitment during a meeting with Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. and Executive Assistant Raffy Angeles on June 7 at the Converge ICT Corporate Office in Pasig, Metro Manila.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the proposed internet assistance for Angeles City students in their online classes. The pilot project will be in Jaoville, Barangay Pandan where internet connection will be provided to students. This endeavor will eventually be in effect throughout the city which has around 90,000 students in elementary, high school and college.

Online education is one of the key programs of Lazatin who intended to provide free internet access to all public schools in the city.

Lazatin sees the importance of a strong internet connection to efficiently conduct online lessons amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Public school students will now be connected to the world and digital education will further enhance their knowledge as they seek higher learning. The internet is now an indispensable utility that should be accessed by Angeleños," Lazatin said.

Meanwhile, Uy said, "As an Angeleño myself, l am committing to fiber-powering the education of the city. This is a way of giving back to our community."

Educational institutions all over the country are now preparing to hold classes online. Tools are now being developed so that both students and teachers learning could continue while schools are closed.

Uy assured students that the reliability of the Converge connection will be available to them. (With Reynaldo G. Navales)
