Indigent senior citizens receive Vitamin C

ANGELES City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr. started the distribution of Vitamin C supplements on April 6 to indigent senior citizens.

According to Lazatin, the P10 million worth of Vitamin C aims to cover 25,000 senior citizens from poor families in the 33 barangays in the city.

On the first day of distribution, the City Health Office (CHO), Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), Gender and Development (GAD), and the City Information Office (CIO) went on a house-to-house visit, giving supplements to 1,923 seniors.

The senior recipients were from Barangays Sapangbato, Margot, Anunas, Cuayan, Sta. Teresita, Lourdes North West, Sta. Trinidad, San Nicolas, Lourdes Sur East, Claro M. Recto, Virgen Delos Remedios, and Lourdes Sur. Other barangays will follow suit.

Rodolfo Cabrero, one of the beneficiaries from Barangay Sapangbato, thanked the mayor for his continuous support to the senior citizens in the city.

Cabrero said the supplements help boost the immune system of senior citizens since the World Health Organization (WHO) states that the elderly is more susceptible in contracting the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
