Lazatin to help youth develop their talent

ANGELES CITY -- Councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., who is running for mayor here, said that he wants to help the youth develop their talent.

The oppositionist councilor said this during the Angeles City's Mayoral Candidates Forum sponsored by Hotel and Restaurants Association in Pampanga, Inc. (HARP) on November 21 at Oasis Hotel.

Lazatin announced that once elected, the city government will focus on developing the talents of the youths in this city.

“There are a lot of talented individuals in Angeles City,” Lazatin said, “Under our administration, the city government will focus on supporting these talented people, especially the youth.”

Lazatin explained that this will be done through partnerships with various schools and major universities in the city.

He mentioned the establishing of a center for culture and arts in partnership with the Angeles University Foundation, a center for film and media arts in partnership with Holy Angel University, a center for digital media and graphic design in partnership with Systems Plus College Foundation, and a center for technical and vocational training in partnership with the Angeles City National Trade School.

Lazatin said the city government, under his administration, will activate the Culture and Arts Council of Angeles City (CACA), which will be responsible for crafting and promulgating policy on the preservation of Angeles City’s cultural heritage.

Angeles City is similar to New York and does not have a lot of unique tourist destinations but it is rich in human resources and the city government should focus on developing and harnessing this potential, according to him.

Earlier, Lazatin also announced his plans of cultivating a close partnership between the city government and the private sector once he is elected.

This will enhance the city’s business sector starting with cleaning out abusive government employees who use their position to extort businesses in the city.

“Our administration will be one with a firm stand,” Lazatin stressed, “which means, we will clean out the corrupt employees in the city government, regardless of their affiliation.”
