LGC founder remembered on 75th birth anniversary

Laus Group of Companies Founder Liberato "Levy" P. Laus was remembered by family, friends, colleagues and associates on his 75th birth anniversary yesterday, August 17.

His birthday, institutionalized through Founder's Day, celebrates his legacy, inspiration and vision for Pampanga and Central Luzon, being a staunch countryside development advocate,

LPL as he is popularly known in the business and socio-civic circle, is known as a humanitarian, action man and prime mover as the founder and Chairman Emeritus of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., former head of the San Fernando Heritage Foundation, and the spirit behind a host of non-government organizations that has lifted Pampanga off the ground in his lifetime.

He has been branded as a tycoon, corporate statesman, public servant and community volunteer.

It was his sheer love for Pampanga and the countryside that has driven him passionately to serve his kabalens. He was but a simple son of San Fernando, a typical "palengke boy" who sold sweepstakes at the public market where he learned the rudiments of life.

Even with the lure of better opportunities elsewhere, he chose to stay in Pampanga, starting small and working hard to keep the LausGroup open and growing, knowing that many people depended on him.

“That is his most enduring legacy to the province and the countryside. He had a vision and made sure it was realized through, among many ways, the Laus Group of Companies. It was his mission to uplift the lives of people in the many communities we serve. And that mission lives as we carry on his legacy,” said eldest son Paul A. Laus, president of the LausGroup.

LPL perished along with two others in a helicopter crash in Barangay Anilao, Malolos City, Bulacan on April 25, 2019.
