IN A bid to reinforce the “Gawang Angeleno," Angeles City Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr. has ordered the installation of shelves or kiosks that will feature products from the One Town, One Product (Otop) store at the city hall.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, who is supervising the installation, said they will start putting up the said kiosks at the newly constructed waiting shed of the city hall.

“Hopefully, by next week, we can start with the operation of these kiosks, in order to help our kababayans, the local merchants, to generate additional income during the pandemic,” Manuel said.

She added that they decided to place the Otop kiosks at the waiting shed -- which was constructed amid the pandemic to minimize the people inside the city hall building -- to get more people to see the products.

Lazatin wants to make the Otop store more accessible by bringing it closer to the people.

“Gusto natin mas lalong ma-showcase yung mga local products na binebenta sa OTOP, para mas maraming tao ang maka-alam at bumili ng mga ito. At the same time, matutulungan din natin yung mga local merchants natin na mas dumami pa yung benta nila, lalo na ngayong papalapit na ang Pasko,” Lazatin said.

To date, Otop already has 12 local micro, small and medium enterprise members, including ADTO Ship (miniature souvenir ships); BG Metal (Metal Plant Baskets); JJBMS Blooming Greens (Water Bonsais); Cutud Weavers (Plant Baskets); Ellen’s Handbags (Recycled Bags); Flores Handicrafts (Kitchen Organizers); Tamayuq (Bayong Bags); Tabak’s Artworks (Painted Home Decors); K’s Creation (Fashion Accessories); Woodcraft by Madison (Wooden Kitchenwares); Chilona Fabrica (Capiz Home Decors); and Stitched by Raj (Hair Accessories).

Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office Head Irish Bonus-Llego is encouraging all Angelenos to support the locally made products featured in Otop by visiting the kiosks and the physical store in Barangay Sto. Rosario near the Museo ning Angeles, and checking out its online platform on Shopee and Facebook (@OTOP Angeles).

Llego added that apart from this initiative, the Otop store will also be holding a 12.12 sale from December 1 to 12, 2020.

“Iniimbitahan natin yung mga kababayan natin na sumali sa gaganaping OTOP 12.12. sale. Maraming magaganda at affordable items na pwedeng ipang-regalo lalo na ngayong parating na Kapaskuhan,” Llego said.
