Lupon members get refresher course on Katarungang Pambarangay

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO —Lupong Tagapamayapa members from different towns of Pampanga underwent a refresher course on Katarungang Pambarangay Law.

The orientation was organized by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Pampanga.

Lupon members from Apalit, Bacolor, Candaba, San Luis, San Simon, Bacolor, Sta Rita, Sasmuan, Minalin, City of San Fernando, and Guagua participated in the activity.

The Lupon Tagapamayapa is the body that comprises the barangay justice system. On it sit the barangay captain and 10 to 20 members.

The refresher intends to strengthen the implementation of the Katarungang Pambarangay Law and enhance the capacity of Lupon Members in the application of the said law in their respective jurisdictions, according to the DILG.

This activity also served as a platform to clarify the concerns of Lupons on how to address complex cases filed in the barangays.

Topics discussed include Katarungang Pambarangay Process, Reorientation on Katarungang Pambarangay Forms, Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution, and Best Practices of Award Winning Lupong Tagapamayapa.

Provincial Director Myra B. Moral-Soriano stressed the importance of Lupon Members’ duties and responsibilities in upholding peace and order in their barangays.

She added that the said activity aims to help Lupons in developing a shared knowledge of the KP Law and maximizing their roles in case resolutions.
