Mabalacat mayor reiterates support to microchip producer

MAYOR Crisostomo Garbo on Friday, April 25, reiterated his support and unimpeded access for Clark locators particularly Texas Instruments (TI) that produces microchips for much-needed ventilators that help save lives of Covid-19 patients.

In a teleconference, Garbo, co-chairman of the Metro Clark Advisory Council (MCAC) also enjoined the support of other local government units for unhampered passage of TI company workers going to Clark.

“We take full cognizance on the importance of the products being produced by Clark locators, especially TI. In Mabalacat, we can guarantee easy access to and from Clark for workers,“ Garbo said during the teleconference.

MCAC is an advisory body of Clark Development Corporation made up of the cities of Angeles, Mabalacat and the towns of Porac and Bamban and Capas in Tarlac which are all contiguous to Clark. The governors of Pampanga and Tarlac also serve as honorary advisers.

TI is situated on the northwestern side of Clark Freeport covered by the boundary of Mabalacat City.

Earlier, Garbo assured top executives of Texas Instruments (TI) of help in terms of access in their visit to his office for courtesy visit and donation of rice and protective gears for frontliners.

"I would like to assure you of any help that you need in the city of Mabalacat in the production of parts for any equipment that will be vital in battling Covid-19, particularly ferrying your employees to and from our city,” Garbo said during the simple turnover of TI’s aid to Mabalaqueños.

Since the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), TI has been operating on skeletal workforce but has gradually increased its production capacity.

Aside from MCAC member-LGUs, the telecon was also participated in by co-chair and CDC president Noel Manankil, partner LGUs like Tarlac City, Concepcion, Tarlac, Magalang and City of San Fernando, Pampanga, TI executives, representatives from the US Embassy, PEZA and SCADC. (PR)
