YOUNG and new officials will compose the incoming Mabalacat City Council.
Except for former vice mayor Noel Castro, who was voted as 6th councilor and former councilor Liza Pineda as third councilor, majority of the elected city council members are neophytes in politics.
Only two incumbent councilors First Councilor Krizannel “Winwin” Garbo and Ninth Councilor Dwight Morales were re-elected.
The city council will be headed by Vice Mayor-elect Gerald “Geld” Aquino, a two-termer councilor. Aquino defeated long-time Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales in the vice mayoralty race.
The new city council members, who belong to the “millennial” age bracket, are Jun Castro, 2nd councilor; Nino Delos Reyes, fourth councilor; Victor “Cocoy” Tiglao, fifth councilor; Timmy Dee, seventh councilor; Jerry Magsino, eight councilor; and Carl Dizon, 10th councilor.
Incumbent councilors Amauri “Bok” Tiglao, Carlo Nino Rivera, Eddie Sotto, Jeng Yumul, Jerry Basilio, and Dan Bayani were not reelected.
They all belonged to the ticket of Vice Mayor Christian Halili, who was defeated by re-elected Mayor Cris Garbo in the mayoralty race.
Aquino and seven of the newly-elected councilors belong to Garbo’s team under the Kambilan Party of Governor Lilia Pineda, who is now the vice mayor-elect of the province.
Pineda will replace her son Dennis “Delta” Pineda who was elected governor, defeating outgoing Bacolor Mayor Jomar Hizon.
