Magalang quarantine facility not for coronavirus patients

MAGALANG -- The local government unit (LGU) here has clarified that the town's quarantine facility, situated in Barangay San Nicolas 2, is not for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) positive patients.

In its official Facebook page, the municipal government stressed that the isolation center, housed in the Magalang gymnasium, will accommodate close contacts only.

"Nais po naming iklaro na ang quarantine facility na itinayo ay para sa mga known contacts base sa contact tracing lamang po (we wish to clarify that the quarantine facility established is for known contacts only based on contact tracing)," the LGU stated.

"Hindi po maglalagay ng kumpirmadong COVID 19 na pasyente ang local na pamahalaan ng Magalang sa ating quarantine facility (There will be no confirmed Covid-19 patients that will be housed by the local government of Magalang in the quarantine facility)," it added.

The local government at the same time warned the residents against discrimination of COVID 19 patients.

This after the two COVID 19 patients were reportedly threatened by a group of individuals.

"We would like to remind everyone that Ordinance Number 13 or the Enhanced Anti-Discrimination Ordinance of Magalang, Pampanga, explicitly prohibits any act which causes stigma, shame, or harassment," the LGU stressed.

Local officials, led by Mayor Romulo Pecson, appealed for support from the local constituents to prevent the spread of the corona virus disease in this agricultural town.

"Hinihingi po namin ang inyong suporta para mapigilan po natin ang patuloy na pagdami ng kaso ng COVID 19 sa ating probnisiya (We ask for your support to stop the spike in Covid-19 cases in the province)," the LGU said.

The municipal government is doing its best to protect the people from COVID 19, the local government added.

"Ginagawa po ng Magalang LGU ang lahat upang mapanatili po nating ligtas ang lahat ng mga Magalenos (The Magalang LGU is doing all it can to keep Magalenos safe)," the LGU said.
