CLARK FREEPORT President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., has appointed former Energy Regulatory Commission Chairperson Agnes Devanadera as the new acting president and chief executive officer of Clark Development Corporation (CDC).

In a letter from MalacaƱan dated September 1, Devanadera will also become a member of the CDC Board of Directors.

Executive Secretary Victor Rodriguez signed the letter.

Devanadera will replace Retired Brigadier General Manuel Gaerlan, who was appointed as CDC chief in January 2021 by former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Created in 1993, CDC is an attached agency of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority that manages Clark Freeport Zone, the premier investment and business center in the country.

Before her appointment to CDC, Devanadera served as government corporate counsel, solicitor general, and as the Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary.

A lawyer by profession, Devanadera also served as the mayor of her hometown in Sampaloc, Quezon; national president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines; and undersecretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
