The mayor reiterated this few weeks after the enforcement of the “No Helmet No Travel Policy” and the tricycle ban along the national road.

Lazatin at the same time asked the riders not to allow children to ride motorcycles.

“Kareta pung mag-motor, makisabi ku pung mayap na reng helmet yu pu sana susulud yu la at e yu la paburen reng anak a mangalating makasake keng motor, patye pu medisgrasya la reng makalunus la pu reng kakatang anak (We ask those riding motorcycles to wear their helmet and not to allow children to ride with them),” Lazatin said.

Despite repeated the warning from different agencies as well as the existence of a law, many motorcycle rider all over the country do not wear protective headgears before hitting the road.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded an increase in the number of road fatalities as a result of this.

Alongside with the “No Helmet No Travel Policy” is the tricycle ban, which the City Government implemented a few weeks ago.

The mayor said they have coordinated the new traffic rules with the officials of various trike drivers association in the city.

“Pekisabian mila pu reng egana-ganang presidenti da reng kekatamung tricycle na e la mumunta keng libutad na ning dalan ketang left most lane, keta la pung right most lane da dapat ka reng tricycle tamu ampo reng kekatamung motor banta ing daluy na pu ning traffic tuluy tuluy ya pu (We talked to presidents of tricycle organizations and asked them not to take the middle of the road but the right most lane to ease traffic),” Lazatin said.

Tricycles and motorcycles may only use the left lane when overtaking another vehicle and making left turn, according to the mayor.
