Mayor eyes installation of CCTV cameras in major Candaba streets

CANDABA Mayor Rene Maglanque is eyeing the installation of closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in major streets and places of convergence in the town.

Maglanque said the proposed project is aimed at adding another layer of protection to residents and motorists passing by the municipality, especially during night time.

"Since we have a shortage of policemen, we are positive that the project will help us address criminalities in our municipality," he said.

The first-term mayor said the project is eyed to be launched in the Poblacion area where the municipal hall and major business establishments, including the public market, are located.

CCTV cameras will also be installed at the entry and exit points of the town to monitor the activities around the municipality, the mayor added.

He said he will be designating municipal employees to monitor the camera preview and provide quick response if an emergency is monitored.

"In case of accidents or possible road altercations or any other untoward incidents that may happen in public spaces, we can immediately monitor the case through the help of our CCTV cameras," Maglanque said.

Maglanque said the project is expected to be launched before the year ends and may be completed before the second term of 2020.
