Meralco powers NCC facilities

CLARK FREEPORT -- The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) recently powered the New Clark City (NCC), one of the venues for the upcoming 30th South East Asian Games (SEA) Games in the country.

Meralco powered the 69 kV-13.8kV Interim Substation at the NCC in Capas, Tarlac that addresses power demands for Phase 1A project covering 60 hectares.

The Phase 1A project includes the New Clark City Sports Complex that houses the New Clark City Stadium and New Clark City Aquatic Center, which will serve as venues for the SEA Games from November 30 to December 11.

These facilities meet the standards of international governing bodies including the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Fédération Internationale de Natation (Fina).

Recently, national athletes for swimming and triathlon tested the sports facilities at the NCC.

Top officials from the national government, including House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, also visited the NCC to witness the training of national athletes preparing for the SEA Games.

The NCC is said to be the country's first smart, disaster-resilient, and sustainable city.

Meralco, along with its partners Marubeni Corporation, Kansai Electric Power Co. Inc., and Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc., received the notice of award to develop the Electric Power Distribution System in the NCC by the Bases Conversion Development Authority earlier this year.
