CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Forty of the 43 barangay chairmen of Mexico town on Thursday appealed to the Office of the Ombudsman to conduct fair investigation on the graft case filed against Third District Representative Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr.
The barangay chairmen led by their association’s president, Terrence Napao of Barangay Sto. Cristo, made the appeal during the Balitaan at Talakayan forum of the Central Luzon Media Association - Pampanga chapter in this city.
Napao is also the complainant on the graft case filed against Gonzales at the Office of the Ombudsman on September 7.
Napao alleged in his complaint that the awarding of three public infrastructure projects amounting to over P611 million to the construction firm of the Gonzales family was a conflict of interest in public service.
“Sana po umusad ang kaso. Nakikiusap po kami na sana maging fair and square ang laban dahil ito po ay hindi para sa akin o sa barangay ko lang. Laban po ito ng Pampanga at ng tersera distrito,” Napao said during the forum.
Napao said in his complaint documents from the Department of Public Works and Highways proving that A. D. Gonzales Jr. Construction and Trading allegedly owned by the solon’s family.
The ABC president claimed that the firm bagged three flood-control projects amounting to over P200-million each.
“Malalaking proyekto po ito at hindi biro, at ilan lang po ito sa mga projects niya dito sa third district kaya dapat ay malaman ng publiko itong problemang ito at sana ay maging patas po ang Ombudsman sa pagimbestiga dito,” Napao said.
The complainant said he will seek the assistance of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to escalate the complaint at the House of Representative and Senate.
