MINALIN -- Residents of Barangay Santa Catalina in this town are opposing the construction of a piggery in Sitio Maralumdum (Purok 7) in said barangay.
More than 100 residents signed the petition to stop the proposed project which is reportedly located inside a material recovery facility and beside the San Francisco River.
"Ikaming makatuknang ampo mikibandi gabun keni Sitio Maralumdum (Purok 7) Barangay Santa Catalina misasanmetung kaming magpetisyun kontra king babalakan Dang piggery project kilub ning Material Recovery Facility king mesabing sitio," the residents said.
The petitioners said there was no public consultation held for the project.
They added that the owner did not present an Environmental Clearance Certificate and Sewerage Treatment Plan.
"Ala lang pepakit a dokumentu kalupa na ning Environmental Compliance Certificate ampo Sewerage Treatment Plan," the residents said.
