MABALACAT CITY -- Officials of Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corporation (Lipad) said the new world-class passenger terminal of Clark International Airport will be fully operational by July this year.

Bi Yong Chungunco, chief executive officer (CEO) of Lipad, made this assurance during a walk-through in the airport with some members of the Pampanga media on Wednesday, February 3.

"We are working on that," she said.

Chungunco said they are committed to finish the project before the target date for the convenience of the airlines and passengers of Clark airport.

The new passenger terminal is expected to accommodate eight million passengers per year, said Chungunco.

Teri Flores, head of the Lipad Corporate Communications, said operations at the old terminal will gradually transfer starting July.

Modern terminal showcases the peaks of Mount Arayat to the East and Zambales to the West, according to Flores.

She said the motif of the airport's international terminal is green and the domestic blue.

The new terminal is designed to have large reception areas, check-in counters, passenger lounge, immigration lines and others, according to Flores.

The passenger terminal also has comfort rooms for the LGBT, family, male, female and physically-challenged.

Famous international coffee shops will also locate inside the airport terminal, Flores said.

The GMR Megawide had recently turned over the new terminal and its certificate of completion to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, which in turn awarded it to Lipad.
