NLEX extends aid to typhoon victims

CLARK FREEPORT--NLEX Corporation recently extended donations and relief assistance to host communities, government and transport organizations, and charitable institutions that were affected by the recent typhoons.

Early this month, the tollway company said it turned over 500 mattresses and 225 double-deck beds to AFP’s Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) in Tarlac; Mabalacat City Drop-in Center for Women and Children; Bahay Pag-asa in Mabalacat and Angeles, both in Pampanga; and Ephesus Home for Girls in Guiguinto, Bulacan.

“We continue to support and partner with institutions who are helping people transform their lives and acknowledge their contributions in securing the safety and welfare of every Filipino especially the women and the youth. We salute these organizations who undertake programs that help the less fortunate Filipinos,” NLEX President J. Luigi L. Bautista said.

Bahay Pag-asa Angeles head Edna Duaso thanked NLEX for the donations.

Duaso said the steel beds and mattresses will help improve the well-being of the children under their care.

The Bahay Pag-asa is operated by the Angeles City Social Welfare and Development.

NLEX also helped 45 families who were affected by the structural collapse in Barangay Mapulang Lupa in Valenzuela City due to strong rains caused by the southwest monsoon and typhoon Hanna.

Gabions were also donated to Barangay Hacienda Dolores in Porac, Pampanga, which was recently hit by a landslide.

The gabions will help prevent similar incidents that pose harm to the residents.

NLEX also donated sacks of rice to the members of the Alliance of Concerned Transport Organization – National Jeepney Organization who were affected by the recent typhoons.

Walkers, canes, and crutches were also given to the Create a Job for Disabled Association, Inc., in Pandacan, Manila to support its program to provide persons with disabilities with assistive and mobility devices so they can have access to services and employment opportunities.

NLEX Corporation said it has always been at the forefront of helping communities.
