A VILLAGE chief in Angeles City said that majority of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases got the virus from workplaces.

Balibago Barangay Chairman Rodelio Mamac Sr. said this is true in his village, which now has 62 active cases and 32 deaths as of August 9.

Workers who acquired the coronavirus from their workplaces transmit the virus to their family members, according to Mamac.

"Nanggagaling ito (Covid-19) sa mga pinagtatrabahuan at naiuuwi ito sa kanilang mga tahanan at nagkakaroon ng home transmission," the barangay chairman said.

Mamac said they had recommended the establishment of temporary quarantine facilities in different companies in the city, Clark Freeport and other areas in Pampanga.

Workers with Covid-19 symptoms and those who were exposed to the virus will temporarily stay in the company isolation facilities until the local government unit takes action, he added.

"Dito nila pansamantalang ilalagay ang lahat ng mga na expose na manggagawa sa isang nagpositibo sa virus. Huwag na silang pauwiin sa kanilang mga pamamahay," Mamac said.

Of the 62 new active cases the village reported, 11 patients are still staying in their respective residences, according to Mamac.

"Hindi malayong mahawahan na rin ang mga kasama nila sa bahay na senior citizen, may mga karamdaman, buntis, PWD, at mga bata," the barangay leader said.

The entire city is under alert level 4 because of the sudden increase of Covid-19 cases, according to Mamac.

He said barangay officials are still figuring out if these cases are connected with the so-called Delta variant.
