Over 2,000 relief packs distributed in Sto. Tomas

MORE than 2,000 packs of relief goods were distributed to flood-affected families in Sto. Tomas, Pampanga.

Mayor Gloria Ronquillo said the local government started the distribution of relief goods as early as last week.

She said the family of visionary Bong Pineda donated 1,500 packs of five-kilo rice, while the Rotary Club of Makati Olympia gave some 550 packs of canned goods.

Food packs that were purchased by the local government are set for distribution within the week, Ronquillo said.

"Our relief distribution is per batch so as not to gather a lot of people in a single place as compliance to social gathering protocol," she said.

As of Tuesday, August 3, Ronquillo said portions of all the seven barangays in Sto. Tomas were still experiencing up to two feet of flood.

She added that some 4,152 families or 14,434 individuals in the seven barangays were already affected by the flooding.

"The most affected area is the Bondoc Ville Resettlement Site but floodwaters in some of the barangays has started subsiding," she said.
