THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has approved a P1 provisional increase on the minimum fare of public utility jeepneys plying routes around Central Luzon.

Based on LTFRB decision released Wednesday night, jeepney drivers in the region are allowed to collect P10 for first four kilometers starting yesterday, Thursday. No increase will be imposed in the succeeding kilometers.

All public utility jeepneys, either modernized or traditional units, operating within Central Luzon must display the "notice of provisional fare increase" inside their vehicles.

The provisional fare increase came after various transport groups filed their petitions amid the consecutive oil price hikes caused mainly by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Aside from Central Luzon, the provisional minimum fare hike is also implemented in Metro Manila and Region IV (Calabarzon).
