MOTORISTS passing by Kalsadang Bayu in Masantol town in Pampanga can soon enjoy a brand new and upgraded road, as its construction is already in full swing.

Mayor Danilo Guintu said the construction of the major thoroughfare has started as early as February and is expected to be completed before the year ends.

Prior to construction, Kalsadang Bayu, which is considered the main access road going in and out of the municipality, regularly experience heavy flooding during rainy and high tide season.

Light vehicles have to go around the town's internal roads to access the Metro Plaza as the road becomes not passable for several months every year.

Guintu also said the condition of road have also deteriorated over the years due to it being submerged for months in floodwater.

"This is a dream project for Masantoleños because Kalsadang Bayu is one of our major thoroughfares here. Once completed, we are optimistic that it will remain passable whole year round," he said.

The mayor said the project, which has some P38-million budget, will include the upgrading of the road and installation of drainage system to ensure smooth flow of rain and floodwater.

It will stretch from the boundary of Masantol and Macabebe towns up to the side of the Municipal Hall here.

"Once completed, there will be no more ponds of water around the area as all roads will be leveled. Our Civic Center, where most activities are held, will also be easily accessible," Guintu said.
