CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The rehabilitation of a bridge in Guagua town has been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Pampanga 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO).

Prior to the rehabilitation, residents said the old bridge had deteriorated, posing a safety risk to pedestrians and motorists.

“Syempre dahil matagal na yung dating bridge medyo mahina na, hindi kagaya ngayon talagang matibay na. Malaki po ang benepisyo lalo na sa mga dumadaan, komportable na sila dahil maluwang at maganda na,” Felix Capulong, a tribike driver in the area, said.

Engineer Gregorio D. Audea, Jr., chief of DPWH Pampanga 2nd DEO, said that the state of the bridge prompted them to implement its replacement to a more durable structure.

The P9.8 million bridge, funded under the General Appropriation Act of 2023, spans 10 linear meters.

It can now accommodate heavier loads and improve access to Barangay San Matias Quilo from the Guagua–Sta. Rita–Porac Road, Audea said.
