The Pampanga Police Provincial Office (PPO) reported on Wednesday that the crime rate in the province decreased by 24.76 percent from February to April 2025 this year.
Colonel Jay Dimaandal, director of the Pampanga Police, said that 1,523 crimes were recorded on the said period.
This is lower compared to the 2,024 incidents during the same period in 2024.
“In terms of index crimes, we have recorded a decrease of 76 cases or 42.46 percent from 179 cases. Meanwhile, non-index crimes went up to 632 cases from 470, equivalent to a 34.47 percent increase. We mainly attribute this increase to strict law enforcement and enhanced case reporting and response systems,” Dimaandal said.
On the statistics per crime, PPO records show that there has been a notable decrease on all eight focus crimes like homicide, murder, rape, theft and robbery.
Homicide cases dropped from 25 in 2024 to five cases in 2025 while murder decreased from 13 to four cases.
Rape cases went down from 27 to 12; theft from 17 to 12 cases; robbery from 61 to 47 cases.
Cases of physical injury also slightly decreased from 16 to 15; while theft of vehicles and motorcycles went down by one and 10 cases, respectively," the police official said.
He added that on the campaign against illegal drugs, Pampanga police carried out 292 operations resulting in the arrest of 441 suspects.
Authorities confiscated over 3,600 grams of shabu and 175 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of over P24.9 million.
The Pampanga police said it also intensified operations against illegal gambling, loose firearms, and wanted persons.
A total of 15 operations led to the arrest of 69 individuals involved in illegal gambling, and 169 firearms recovered and 300 wanted persons were captured.
As of April 2025, Dimaandal said that 462 barangays in Pampanga were cleared from illegal drug-related activities based on the parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drugs Board.
“Consequently, because of this decrease in crime incidents, our crime clearance efficiency improved to 100 percent in 2025 from 99.44 percent last year, while crime solution efficiency also rose from 76.53 to 78.64 percent,” Dimaandal said.
