TOURISM workers in Pampanga are now being inoculated with Covid-19 vaccines in a bid to boost the economy’s recovery.

Second District Provincial Board Member Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab shared that the province is keen on vaccinating tourism workers to encourage visitors to local destinations once tourism-related activities fully restart.

Cayabyab also reiterated the call to the public not to be complacent about being vaccinated amid the rising Covid-19 cases, exacerbated with the presence of the highly transmissible Delta variant.

“To those who are vaccinated, you still have to be cautious, and vigilant. Our goal here is that you won’t suffer from critical or severe [symptoms of Covid-19]. We still have to take extra precautions,” she said.

Cayabyab shared that aside from the efforts of the national government in distributing the vaccines, the provincial government has provided vaccinators to assist the localities in speeding up the vaccination process.

For his part, City of San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago highlighted that the vaccines will serve as protection to workers while they continue their advocacy of reopening local tourism.

The local chief executive called on the residents to take their part in reviving tourism in the city by strictly following the minimum public health standards.

Based on the data from the Department of Tourism, the province of Pampanga has a total of 2,756 tourism workers including 908 under the A1 category or healthcare workers; and 1,848 under A4 or economic frontliners.

Of this figure, 827 have already been vaccinated including 527 in the A1 priority group; and 300 in the A4. (PR)
