Pampanga palay crop damage reaches P407M

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The damage brought about by the prevailing southwest monsoon on Pampanga palay crops reached ₱407, 740,816.

This is according to the latest reports from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).

San Simon registered the highest number of palay crop damage at P144, 838, 932 followed by Candaba with P144, 988, 002.

Arayat town recorded the third highest number of damages among 4th district towns with P42, 709, 028 as of press time.

Arayat was followed by Apalit with some P42, 188, 585 worth of damages to its palay crops.

High value crop damages in Pampanga have also risen to P11, 377, 188 with most of the damaged crops in Arayat, Porac, Candaba and Mabalacat City.

Damage to Pampanga’s corn crops climbed to P12, 860, 331.

Most of the damage crops are in Candaba town which registered some P2,368, 800 worth of damages followed by Mexico, one of the province’s leading producers of commercial corn, with P3,521,494.

Most of the damage reports still needs to be validated by other related agencies for the necessary interventions.

The rains brought by the southwest monsoon had also resulted in some P132, 758,016 worth of damage to the province’s fisheries sector.
