The former Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) is now officially known as Pampanga State University, following a formal inauguration ceremony held on Friday, June 27.

The event was led by university officials, faculty members, and government leaders.

Pampanga State University President Enrique Baking, who led the inauguration ceremonies, assured the university community that the change in name will propel the university to greater heights.

He said the school community will remain "maroon and gold", refering to the university colors of the former DHVSU.

Baking thanked 3rd District Rep. Aurelio "Dong" Gonzales who was instrumental in the development of the state university.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. signed into law Republic Act No. 12148, renaming Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU) to Pampanga State University.

The law aims to "strengthen the identity and operational capacity of higher education in the province of Pampanga."

Pampanga State University reflects "a broader provincial identity while continuing its long-standing legacy of academic excellence that dates back to its founding in 1861."

At present, DHVSU operates six campuses in Mexico, Porac, Sto. Tomas, Lubao, Candaba and Apalit.
