MASANTOL -- A party-list organization, which is seeking a seat in the House of Representatives in the coming May 2019 elections, vowed to work on public safety laws reforms if it will be given a representation in Congress.

The Public safety Alliance for Transformation and Rule of Law (Patrol) party-list, founded on May 2015, consists of educators, businessmen, lawyers and public servants who were primarily concerned with the safety of the public.

Retired Police Superintendent Jorge Bustos, who is the founder of Patrol, said the organization was formed through the common goal of ensuring the safety of the public through strict implementation of laws.

Bustos, who hails from this coastal town, said Patrol aims to unite and form an alliance among members of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Bureau of Corrections who are the frontliners in public safety law enforcement.

A former police official himself, Bustos said that he knows and understands the shortage and weaknesses of laws concerning public safety which limits enforcers in their duty of ensuring the safety and security of the people.

“Patrol is not an organization of certain groups or individuals alone, rather was formed to promote the interests of the whole Filipino people whom we wanted to give a secured community to live in day and night,” Bustos said.

If elected, Bustos said Patrol party-list will prioritize the reformation of existing laws on peace and order and ensure its enforcement.

He also vowed to create more laws that would ensure the safety and security of the Filipino people.

Bustos added that PATROL will also be advancing measures that will provide recognition and incentive to public safety frontliners “who risk their lives to ensure that of their fellow Filipino people.”

The Patrol party-list is among the total 185 groups which filed their application to join in the 2019 party-list elections.
