PhilMech introduces Pampanga agri-fishery database

THE agri-fishery sector in Pampanga received a boost Thursday, May 17, after the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) introduced the Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization and Engineering Resource Network (AFMechERN) to municipal and city agriculturists here in an aim to improve the agriculture and fisheries database across the province.

Provincial Agriculturist Edilberto Salenga said the primary objective of the program is to develop, enhance and establish new databases that will serve as base facility on agri-fisheries mechanization and engineering information systems.

“It will be equipped to generate the needed data for general information and reference, resource analysis, planning and allocation, and for policy analysis, decisions and advocacy,” Salenga said.

The AFMechERN will make data accessible to all government and non-government partner agencies and organizations, recognized national organization of agricultural assemblers, manufacturers and distributors, and other private organizations involved in the development, production, promotion and marketing of agri-fishery machineries and equipment.

Under Article III, Section 10 of the AFMech Law of 2013, the agricultural and fisheries mechanization database of the country will be part of the AFMechERN.
