CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan – The quick response and remarkable courage of Baliwag City police personnel in Bulacan resulted in the immediate arrest of a suspect involved in a hostage-taking and attempted murder incident at the Baliwag Public Market on Wednesday morning.

According to a report from Bulacan Police Provincial Office (PPO) information officer Maj. Jaynalyn Udal, the incident occurred at 1:35 a.m.

Udal said while one police officer was negotiating with the hostage taker, another officer quietly moved in from behind. At the right moment, he grabbed the suspect’s knife and placed him under arrest.

Udal, quoting acting Bulacan police director Col. Angel Garcillano, said the swift action and tactical intervention successfully disarmed and arrested the suspect without bloodshed or loss of life, leaving the hostage, a vendor, unharmed.

Their dedication to duty and commitment to protecting life reflect the best values of the Philippine National Police),” Garcillano said.

Garcillano added that the prompt action of the Baliwag City police proves the readiness and dedication of the entire police force in the province to uphold peace and order, in line with the five-minute response time policy of PNP chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III. (PNA)
