Reformed drug surrenderee nabbed

A 53-year-old man who underwent drug rehabilitation under Oplan Tokhang was arrested by the Sta. Ana police at a checkpoint for using an unregistered motorcycle and expired driver’s license.

Police said they recovered four sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) from the pockets of the suspect, identified as Catalino Manalili.

Manalili was among the hundreds of drug pushers who surrendered under the Philippine National Police’s Oplan Tokhang when it was launched in 2016 and underwent the community-based reformation program.

Before his voluntary surrender, Manalili allegedly served as runner of drug pushers in this town, supplying illegal drugs to a number of drug users.

On Monday, January 21, Manalili reportedly did not resist arrest. He was brought to the town’s police detention facility.

He will face charges of violation of Republic Act 4136 or the LTO rules and regulations, and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
