Robber-holdup member slain in San Fernando shootout

A SUSPECTED hold-upper was killed in a shootout with police operatives in Barangay Malpitic, City of San Fernando, Monday, May 6.

Levi Hope Basilio, chief of police of the City of San Fernando, identified the fatality as Daniel Gonzales of Arayat, Pampanga.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Basilio said Gonzales was an alleged member of a robbery-holdup and motornapping gang operating in the city.

He said that City Police with Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-Central Luzon personnel conducted a dragnet operation from a reported robbery hold-up that happened in Barangay San Agustin, also this city.

Basilio said the two unidentified armed men on board a motorcycle were spotted along the road of Barangay Malpitic.

When accosted, one of the suspects sped on board the motorcycle, leaving behind the back rider, he said.

The suspect then fired towards the operatives, that prompted them to retaliate killing him on the spot, Basilio said.

Recovered from the slain suspect were a cal. 9mm pistol with magazine, a sling bag with cash amounting P900.00, three lighters and four sachets of shabu. (Ric Sapnu)
