THE City Government of San Fernando has put the City Health Office (CHO) and its attached agencies on red alert to prevent the foreseen surge of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases during the holiday season.

During her live report at the City Information Office's Facebook page, City Health officer-in-charge and Incident Commander Dr. Renely Tungol said the alert status is effective starting Monday and will last until the end of holiday season.

"The holiday season does not mean we are relaxing, rather we are intensifying our efforts to ensure that minimum health standards are being observed in all establishments in the city every day," she said.

Under the red alert status, Tungol said inspectors and implementors of Covid-19 protocols such as CHO, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and local police are more active and visible in public places to ensure that protocols and guidelines are being carried out.

Covid-19 hotlines also remain active 24/7 to monitor and accept reports of protocol violations, and those who might be experiencing symptoms, she added.

The Covid-19 hotlines are (0931) 038 9710 and 649-8080 local 104-105 (City Health Office) and 649-8080 local 106 (City Disaster Risk Reduction and management Office).

Tungol, meanwhile, urged the public to observe and abide by all health protocols and be responsible when going outside of residences.

"There is a term abroad called Covid-19 fatigue where an individual treats all people as Covid-19 positive. Many view it as negative mindset, but we can use it in a good way. By having the Covid-19 fatigue mindset, we are more conscious in observing health standards, thus we are protecting ourselves from the virus," she said.
