San Fernando targets 'high compliance' rate for road clearing ops

THE City Government of San Fernando is once again targeting to garner a "high compliance" rating for the second phase of road clearing operations ordered by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Members of the road clearing operations team of the City set this as they tackled preparation measures leading to DILG's table and actual validation in the city on February 18, 2021.

For the second phase, the DILG, along with a representative local government unit (LGU), will be validating the LGUs' compliance with the following components: tricycle ban on national roads; creation of ordinances relative to the directive; completion of inventory reports for road obstructions; relocation/recovery programs for displaced obstructions/vendors; and establishment of electronic and physical grievance mechanism.

Marites Quillope, City Local Government Operations officer, said the city is prepared for the validation, but will strengthen its existing operations, with the support of its partner agencies and the Fernandino community.

During the first phase of the program, the City of San Fernando was one of the 328 LGUs, out of 1,246 in the whole country, that garnered a "high compliance" rating for the said program. (PR)
