A turnover ceremony had taken place between this City’s former and new local chief executives, Edwin “EdSa” Santiago and Vilma B. Caluag, respectively, on June 30, 2022 at Heroes Hall.

During the ceremony, Santiago handed the “seat of authority” to Caluag, which the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said was the transfer of accountability to the latter as the new City Mayor.

Apart from this, both parties have also gathered, secured, and shared all official documents and/or records of the local government’s official transactions, as guided by the DILG’s memorandum on local governance transition.

Earlier, in his last face-to-face ceremony with employees and department heads of the city government, Santiago asked them to continue serving Fernandinos the way they used to, no matter who is at the helm of the local government.

"This your mandate at ito ang inyong sinumpaang tugkulin, ang paglingkuran ang mga Fernandino ayon sa paggabay ng bagong liderato," he said.

He told SunStar Pampanga that he would now go back to being a private citizen but will continue to serve and help Fernandinos in his own capacity as a socio-civic servant. (City of San Fernando Information Office with JTD)
