SCAVENGERS from San Simon town in Pampanga recently received food packs from the provincial and local government.

Mayor Abundio Punsalan Jr. said a total of 54 scavengers benefitted from the program, which has long been implemented by the Provincial Government.

He said the Provincial Government provided groceries and dressed chicken while the local government supplemented it with rice.

"Just like other Filipino employees, mangangalakal or scavengers also brave the threat of Covid-19 to provide for their and their families' needs and their works, we are able to boost recycling programs in our community," he said.

Punsalan and the recipients, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to the Provincial Government for its continuous support to all sectors of society.

"We are very much grateful to Governor Dennis Pineda and Vice Governor Lilia Pineda for remembering our scavengers. Their programs manifest their inclusive brand of leadership and governance," the mayor said.
