THE local police of Masantol are dedicated in maintaining the municipality free from coronavirus disease with their strict implementation of health and safety protocols.

The town's chief of police, Major Elias Tait, said the strict border control is still strictly implemented to monitor the movement of people, especially those coming from different municipalities.

"Although we are already on general community quarantine, we still check the people who are coming in and out of Masantol to ensure that the virus will not penetrate our community," he said.

Aside from this, mandatory wearing of face masks outside of residence and in public places is still enforced as part of the health protocols, Tait added.

He said the police force is conducting round-the-clock patrolling in every barangay to monitor the public's compliance on physical distancing.

"We have painted markers which we call 'squares and circles of life' near the entrance of business establishments to guide public on physical distancing and we are continuously monitoring to comploance of everybody," he said.

Tait, meanwhile, called on anew for the cooperation of Masantoleños as they implement the health and safety protocols in town.

He urged the public to remain at home as much as possible as the curfew and movement restriction for youth and seniors is still in effect.

"There might be a little inconvenience but it is for your safety and of our community. Let's work together to maintain Masantol Covid-19 free," he said.
