Survey: Pineda among top 5 performing governors in PH

PAMPANGA Governor Dennis Pineda is among the top five performing provincial chief executives in the Philippines, according to a recent independent non-commissioned survey of the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMDinc).

In a statement, Dr. Paul Martinez of the RPMDinc said the regional center of the provinces was chosen to gather significant data for analysis.

"We are hoping that this will give our public servants a good insight on how they are doing with their constituents," said in a statement.

"Of the 16 provincial governors representing in every region, 10 achieved a majority high job performance rating, while six were not able to attain a majority approval. For mayors outside the National Capital Region, 13 city mayors were rated high job approval ratings while three rated below 50 percent. For NCR mayors, 14 were appraised positively while three were assessed below the passing mark though their ratings went up significantly from previous surveys," Martinez added.

The survey showed that Pineda, on the fifth spot, had a 62 percent approval rating. Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia emerged at the Top 1 with 77 percent; second is Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, 72 percent; La Union Governor Franciso Emmanuel Ortega, 70 percent at third; and Davao del Sur Governor Mark Douglas Cagas at fourth with 67 percent.

The survey had 3,500 respondents in NCR conducted from July 3 to 10, 2021 and 5,000 respondents across all regions for governors and city mayors outside NCR conducted from June 10 to 25, 2021.

Martinez stressed in the statement that the objective of their analysis was to get the citizens' opinion and assessment of the officials' performance in terms of relevant factors related to their duties to society. (JTD)
