Thunderstorm damages houses in Apalit town

ABOUT a dozen of families in Apalit town, Pampanga may fail to comply with the home quarantine measure being implemented after their houses were damaged by the onslaught of thunderstorm over the weekend.

The thunderstorm, which was coupled by strong winds and lightning, caught most Kapampangans by surprise when it hit most parts of the province on Saturday evening, May 9.

After its about an hour onslaught, the weather disturbance left 10 houses damaged, according to the report of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of the town.

Several trees were also uprooted and felled, causing more damage to the affected houses, the office added.

MDRRMO noted that affected houses are located in Barangays Tabuyoc and Cansinala, which are both along the Pampanga River.

The disaster risk reduction office has assessed the damage and conducted clearing operations in the said areas, while affected families were endorsed to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office for necessary assistance.
