Tupad beneficiaries in Guagua get P3M

GUAGUA — Some 662 beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment’s "Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers" (Tupad) program here received their salaries during a payout over the weekend at the San Miguel Covered Court in Guagua’s Betis District.

Second District Representative and former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo led the event.

Arroyo was accompanied by Guagua Mayor Anthony “Tonton” Torres, Vice Mayor Benjamin “Jun” Lim, Jr. , PESO officer Elaine Baun, San Miguel village chief Jose Manlutac and other municipal and barangay officials.

Tupad is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and unemployed indigents.

Under the program, each beneficiary is hired to work for a minimum of 10 days with a daily pay based on the prevailing minimum wage.

Each of the beneficiaries are provided protective clothing and headgear and enrolled for insurance coverage with the Government Service Insurance System covering the entire duration of their work program.

The work of beneficiaries under the Tupad program revolves around social, economic, and agroforestry community projects.
