WITH the lack of cafeterias in San Agustin Integrated School in the City of San Fernando, the UAP Cabalen-Pampanga Chapter, a newly-chartered chapter of the United Architects of the Philippines, recently broke ground for its school canteen donation dubbed “Silungan” for the said institution.

Architect Hermel Gulapa, UAP Cabalen-Pampanga Chapter president, said that the initiative is the group’s first of many projects and programs aimed at helping the community, especially the next generation.

“When we saw how difficult the conditions are for the students of San Agustin Integrated School, knowing they spend their break and recess under the shade of trees and staircases within the school compound, we decided to help build a new canteen which hopefully, will be completed this month or September,” he said.

“Not known to many, many of our members are products of public elementary schools so we know our young learners’ situation and how this new and permanent facility can help them. This is also our way of leaving behind a legacy that will benefit many students for many years to come,” he added.

Aside from the said project, Gulapa announced that their organization is also committed to donating more facilities that will help improve the overall academic performance of students in public schools.

“We have lined up a number of projects we find as invaluable help to our needy public schools in the province. Our next priority is to donate toilets and washing facilities in Minalin and construction materials for a local elementary school in Sta. Ana,” he added.

The president said that with these education-focused endeavors, UAP Cabalen Chapter can make a difference in society, one meaningful project at a time.

“We really want to extend help to the community, as much as we want to make an impact and serve as an inspiration to our young Kapampangans. With these efforts, we hope that when they become professionals themselves, they will also be more than willing to lend a hand to those who need it most,” he concluded.
