CITY of San Fernando Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin on Wednesday, October 23, urged about 75 reformists from various villages of the city to continue the path of reform and become productive members of families and communities.

This as the 75 reformists attended the Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) closing ceremony at Waltermart.

Lazatin said that the city government is one with national government agencies in providing assistance to people who would like to continue on the path of reform through various programs.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has earlier pushed for the strengthening of the community-based drug rehabilitation program (CBDRP) to accommodate the growing number of drug surrenderers in the country.

The CBRP is one of the three pillars of DILG’s Masa Masid ((Mamamayang Ayaw Sa Anomalya, Mamamayang Ayaw Sa Ilegal na Droga) program which aims to help in rehabilitating the surrendered drug personalities through a holistic approach that focuses on the healing of the body, mind and soul by means of counseling and other therapeutic sessions. The program runs for about eight weeks or approximately 48 days.

The program is designed to provide support for the rehabilitation of the suspected drug users or pushers who earlier surrendered to authorities in the city. This is made to offer the surrenderers different services and also to offer them training on livelihood and to employ them later on.
