Incoming Pampanga Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda recently led the inspection of the newly-upgraded Lubao Bamboo Hub in Barangay Sta. Catalina.

The improvement of the facility was made possible through a P28-million funding from the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), under the leadership of Chief Operating Officer Mark Lapid.

Among the new features of bamboo hub, now open to the public, are a hanging bridge, a floating restaurant, and a wider and beautified park.

The provincial officials said the enhancements are expected to boost the tourism appeal of the facility.

Joining the inspection were 4th District Board Member-Elect Dr. Kaye Naguit, Provincial Engineer Olimpio Pangan, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Dax Tidula, Provincial Planning and Development Officer Jericho Tapang, Provincial Environment Officer Arthur Punsalan, and General Services Office Chief Francis Maslog.

Board Member Jun Canlas and Provincial Engineer Noli Pangan said the provincial government is currently preparing a masterplan for the next phase of development inside the bamboo hub

Among the proposed projects are jetski and kayak rides along the river, a floating restaurant on a barge, an additional function hall, PWD- and senior-friendly pathways, and expanded bike lanes.

Officials are also planning to put up a floating spa that will provide livelihood opportunities for members of the deaf-mute community.

These plans aim to capitalize on Lubao Bamboo Hub as one of the best eco-tourism destinations in Central Luzon.
