The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Mabalacat City is set to conduct an investigation regarding the land dispute between residents of Macapagal Village and Clark Development Corporation.
This was learned from Vice Mayor Jun Castro, who said that the city council has set an en banc hearing in connection with the issue.
In his privilege speech during the SP session on Monday, Councilor Noel Castro pushed for an investigation.
The councilor said that both parties have valid concerns and claims.
"We are aware that if this issue is left unadressed, it may escalate and cause confusion, division, and unrest among the residents of our city, especially those living in Macapagal Village," Councilor Castro said.
Last week, residents of Macapagal Villages prevented Clark speedway workers on board heavy equipment to cross the barangay for a scheduled construction of a gate.
The incident caused panic among the residents, who apparently perceived it as a demolition operation.
Some city officials said the incident was a case of misunderstanding.
Vice Mayor Castro appealed to the people to stop spreading false information especially on social media.
He assured the residents that CDC cannot conduct demolition in the village without due process. "E pu malyaring i-demolish de ing Macapagal Village, aku na pu ing magsalita kekayu."
After helping the workers cross the village, the vice mayor said he requested representatives of the speedway to suspend the construction.
The official said he also asked them to show plans and documents to support their expansion projects.
"Ing milyari pu kanita, makilabas la mu pu reng kekatamung investor ketang speedway. Mauran Kasi ela midalan ketang original dang dalan uling buburak," he added. "Ing sabi ku kareng investors ala pang kikimut. Ing buri ku atin kayung planing ilatad at documented yan. Buri ku mika-survey ban kanita kabang mag-survey kayu makadungut ta ketang mapa at akit da reng tau banta kanita ela mikaka malisya."
Vice Mayor Castro said the city officials, led by Mayor Geld Aquino, are aiming for a "win"win" solution.
"Kalupa na pu ning milyari, ngening meg regular session tamu, meg privilege speech ya i Honorable Noel Castro a nung nukarin menagkat tamung investigation in aid of legislation ban kanita pu mika-transparency keng siyudad Mabalacat," Vice Mayor Castro said.
"King kekatamu pung local chief executive ampo ing presidenti na Ning CDC, in the person of Atty. Agnes Devanadera, hopefully maging "win-win" solution ing maging hakbang keng kekatamung payawus a en banc hearing," he added.
