The Sangguniang Bayan of Masantol town passed Resolution No. 2025-033 placing the town under a state of calamity due to the "severe economic-socio and environmental impacts” of the recent flooding brought by three typhoons.

The resolution, which was approved on Wednesday (July 23), was transmitted to the provincial government of Pampanga.

Under a state of calamity, the municipal government can access 30 percent of its Quick Response Fund from the 5 percent Calamity Fund for 2025.

The latest reports from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office place Masantol among the worst hit by the recent flooding, with 26 of its barangays still submerged.

Masantol’s fisheries sector has been severely hit, with a recorded ₱26,811,648 worth of damage as of press time.

At least 24,233 families in Masantol in the town, roughly 69,845 individuals, were affected by flooding, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office said.

Some 97 families are currently housed in 10 evacuation centers.
